CT Cares Provides Food, Supplies to Over 500 Families with COVID-19 Grant

Funded by Greater Cincinnati Foundation & United Way of Greater Cincinnati's COVID-19 Regional Response Fund.

CT Cares offers professional treatment, support programs and education services to children, teens and their families in the Hamilton community affected by poverty and other adverse childhood experiences.

With the receipt of a COVID-19 Regional Response Fund grant, thanks to the generosity of our community, CT Cares was able to serve more than 500 people through those programs in response to the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

That includes cooking dinner for students from low-income families in the Tyler’s Creek Apartment complex through their Summer Nights program. CT Cares also was able to distribute 100 emergency food boxes filled with items to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week.

The funding also enabled them to assist five families that were quarantined due to COVID-19 diagnoses of every family member. They provided the families with food boxes, toddler supplies (diapers, wipes, formula) and gift cards for carryout meals.

Additionally, CT Cares delivered home-cooked meals and food boxes to 25 senior citizens so that they were able to shelter in place during the pandemic.

“Thank you for the COVID-19 Regional Response Fund grant,” said Kelsey E. Harding, CT Cares program director. “Without your support, we wouldn’t be able to serve the magnitude that we do.”

The rapid-response fund, activated by Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) and United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC), deployed $7.3 million to those in our communities who have been most disproportionately affected by – and most vulnerable to – the health, economic, education, housing and social impacts of the crisis.
